I had read about the Dalai Lama, reveled in a Tibetan Freedom Concert and studied the atrocities of the Chinese invasion and continued occupation. Yet, it was inside Tibet where I truly started to comprehend what a police state does to a people and their culture. The people I met and the friendships I forged here in the early 2000s continue to inform who I am and the work I do today.
