In 2017, approximately 700,000 Rohingya refugees spilled across the border from Myanmar into Bangladesh to escape ethnic cleansing many leaders have called genocide. Joining an existing community of Rohingya, over one million remain stateless with new arrivals still lacking official refugee status over a year later.
